Europe Unveils the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

The Volkswagen Tiguan approaches a new era of innovation, and even though the version displayed is the European model, it gives North American fans an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Tiguan. The latest version of V.W.’s compact crossover boasts improved technology, a new plug-in-hybrid powertrain, and more cargo space.
According to the German automaker, the new Tiguan is slightly longer than its predecessor and propels to life on the more recent version of the V.W. Group’s MQB platform. The U.S.-bound version will probably be a long-wheelbase variant, as the current U.S.-spec model comes with a third row of seats and is known as the Tiguan Allspace in other markets. Furthermore, there may be some variations in styling and trim inside and outside the SUV.
The European version of the Tiguan comes with a variety of turbocharged engines, including gasoline and turbo-diesel options, as well as a new plug-in-hybrid system that delivers 62 miles of all-electric range on the WLTP cycle and D.C. fast-charging capability, which is uncommon for plug-in hybrids. We anticipate that in the U.S., we will receive a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine and the plug-in hybrid, as many of V.W.’s rivals, such as the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson, now offer PHEV options.
The 2025 Tiguan offers several new features that were not available before. Optional upgrades include massaging seats, a large 15.0-inch infotainment display, a head-up display, and adaptive dampers. The German automaker also altered the gear shifter to a column-mounted unit, similar to the I.D. models. Furthermore, a new rotary controller on the center console with a small screen allows drivers to switch between different drive modes, adjust the volume, or change the color of the ambient lighting.
We look forward to learning more about the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan, as the U.S. version may premiere in the coming months (2023) before hitting showrooms in 2024. Meanwhile, the European model is scheduled for sale early next year (2024).
