Volkswagen’s 2022 Q4 sales report demonstrated that its vehicle sales dipped in the United States by 18 percent compared to 2021 Q4 sales by 69,000 units. For 2022, the German automaker sold over 300,000 vehicles, which is 20 percent less than its execution compared to 2021.

Regardless, anyone in the mood for gloom; should stop reading this article because VW did not deliver disastrous results all around. As a matter of fact, the German automaker managed to boost its EV lineup’s popularity in the US against its limitations systemic to the relentless war in Europe. Moreover, in August of 2022, Volkswagen started a local production plant for the ID.4 in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Bringing the Volkswagen ID.4 to life at the new Chattanooga plant proved a tactical move from the innovative automaker, especially because manufacturing in the United States offers sustainable enthusiasts the full $7,500 federal tax credit eligibility.

So how many Volkswagen ID.4’s enchanted fans? According to VW, 9,439 enthusiasts fell in awe of the electric SUV. As a result, the ID.4 sales boast a new quarterly record and an outstanding growth of 111 percent compared to 2021.

The all-electric Volkswagen SUV covers up to 13.7 percent of the German automaker’s sales volume during the fourth quarter. The invigorating EV sales are no surprise since Volkswagen initially expressed that it planned to achieve a monthly output rate of 7,000 ID.4’s. Nevertheless, the new production rate influenced the Chattanooga plant before 2022 concluded.

Regardless, let’s keep in mind that thousands of EV enthusiasts are awaiting the availability of their Volkswagen. In fact, over 40,000 VW EV fans have patiently held onto their reservations since 2021.

In 2022, over 20,000 Volkswagen enthusiasts welcomed their all-electric ID.4, and that’s just within the United States. The new VW EV SUV owners comprise a 22.5 percent increase in resemblance to 2021’s 16,742 units and an overall increase of 6.8 percent for the German automaker’s total volume. Overall, there’s been a total of over 37,000 ID.4’s sold.

The US-oriented 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Standard starts at $37,495 (excludes taxes and destination fees). In addition, the all-electric SUV is more sufficiently equipped than its predecessor, the 2022 ID.4.

As we dive deeper into 2023, we foresee the legendary Golf maker selling 30,000 or even 40,000 units if we consider European imports. Yet, most importantly, the new year (2023) renders a chance for Volkswagen to expand its EV lineup to the ID.Buzz, ID.7, and so many more prospective models.
