Volkswagen expanded its Basecamp accessories lineup to the Atlas Cross Sport SUV. The automaker already offers this package for the standard Atlas

. Making the accessories available as individual parts is a testament to VW’s commitment to delivering high-quality customization options for enthusiasts.

The Basecamp package provides the same upgrades to both Atlas models. The heightened accessories include a host of features that enhance the vehicle’s appearance and functionality, such as a two-tone black-and-silver front valance, matte black fender flares with integrated splash guards, a satin silver rear valance, and satin silver side door rocker panels. The package’s body kit comes from Air Design, known for its high-quality products. It’s worth mentioning that the German automaker offers a front quarter-panel-mounted Basecamp badge for the Atlas model. Still, unfortunately, it’s unavailable for the Atlas Cross Sport, nor sold individually.

Notably, Volkswagen does not recommend the styling package for the Atlas R-Line trims and Peak Edition models. The accessory lineup is not designed for trims lacking the trailer hitch. However, the Basecamp upgrade has some great features for those eligible (Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport). The customizable additions include 17-inch Traverse MX wheels from fifteen52 wrapped in all-terrain tires. Additionally, the wheels are available in two colors: frosted glass and radiant silver, giving customers some flexibility in distinction (shout out to all the “his and hers” enthusiasts).

Volkswagen’s 2019 Atlas Basecamp concept inspired the Basecamp Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. The 2019 concept featured fifteen52-designed Traverse MX wheels and a custom body kit from Air Design. The concept also included a lift kit that raised its height by about 1.5 inches with H & R springs, another feature enthusiasts could add to the Atlas or Atlas Cross Sport with the Basecamp package. There’s a warm feeling knowing Volkswagen is taking inspiration from its concepts to create unique, high-quality products for fans.

Pricing for the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport was announced earlier in May (2024). The standard SUV holds a starting price of $39,075*, while the sportier version is priced at $38,065* (this includes the destination charge of $1,350). Compared to the previous year’s model (2023), there is an increase in the prices due to the addition of more standard equipment like ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel, as well as premium materials for the interior.

The Volkswagen Atlas is available in six trims, while the Atlas Cross Sport is available in five. The top-tier R-Line trim for both SUVs starts at over $50,000. Volkswagen significantly changed under the hood for the 2024 model year by replacing the VR6 engine with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 269 horsepower.
