The VW pickup will ride on the same platform as the Ford Ranger and the same components. The powertrains may attain a six-speed manual transmission and an optional ten-speed automatic transmission with 4×2 or the option of 4×4.
Volkswagen has intentions on an off-road variant and a plug-option. The hybrid variation will feature a turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine with one electric motor at a minimum.
