Volkswagen brings great news for all fans of the brand announcing the new 2023 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition exclusively for the U.S. market that celebrates the great trajectory of Volkswagen in these 40 years. Thanks to the arrival in the form of the Rabbit GTI in 1983 the GTI has managed to define the term “hot hatch” in the U.S. Volkswagen will offer 1500 units of the new 2023 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition in the U.S. delivering half of the vehicles in the manual version and the other half in the automatic version. The new 40th Anniversary Edition showcases the best of Nissan’s eighth-generation models while celebrating four decades of the GTI model. The 2023 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition features a rather striking design that sets the car apart from the other 2023 GTI models and makes this a unique model. On the door sills of the 40th Anniversary Edition can be found “40” decals with flourishes that run along as the symbol of the heritage of the model, also the 40th Anniversary Edition has an illuminated grille in which you can see the classic red GTI stripe that adds a unique touch to your style. The 19-inch wheels are surrounded by 235/35 summer performance tires and are painted gloss black with small red stripe accents. These wheels are inspired by the European Golf GTI Clubsport 45 model and give a higher performance character to the new 40th Anniversary Edition.
The color palette for the new 40th Anniversary Edition will be uranus Gray which will be exclusive to the 40th Anniversary Edition, Tornado Red which perfectly matches the special edition, and the two missing colors Opal Pearl and Grapefruit Yellow Metallic. The roof of the 40th-anniversary edition will be exclusively black, which will match the gloss black mirror covers, standing out quite a bit from the color chosen for the exterior.
The Volkswagen 40th anniversary presents a rather elegant interior design and you can find a “40” pin on the steering wheel that commemorates the history of the GTI, has Scalepaper Plaid cloth seats, and the manual gear shift lever has the design of a golf ball. Inside the hood is a turbocharged EA888 2.0-liter engine with 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The 40th Anniversary Edition can be chosen in 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG® automatic with Tiptronic®. The dynamics of the 2023 Volkswagen Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition feature integrated electronic stability control (ESC), an electronic differential lock (XDS), and a standard DCC adaptive damping system. The GTI provides agile and precise handling by adapting the individual damping 200 times per second.
